After an inspiring win over Wigan , United were looking confident in welcoming one of their title rivals to Old Trafford. United had 6 points from three matches , on the other hand Arsenal had 9 points from their 3 games. So not surprisingly Arsenal has started the season better than United. While Fergie led the head-head to win count over Wenger by 15-14.
United and Arsenal entered the pitch with pretty much same formation . Giggs failed to play Rooney in a couple of situations in the first half.Fletcher missed a half chance. On the other end van Persie's shot was blocked by Evra. And Arshavin missed the top corner very narrowly.
Mins later Arshavin was brought down by Fletcher with a very ugly looking challenge and got away with it.

But within a few seconds Arshavin proved he doesn't need a penalty to score a goal for his team. From almost 25 yards , without any back lift Arshavin curved the ball behind Foster.

Arsenal raised the tempo of the game very early in the second half. Its the same old Russian who pierced the United defence and gave lovely cross to van Persie which forced a great save from Foster.
In the 58th min Giggs succeeded in putting the ball through the eye of a needle which enabled Rooney in winning a penalty for United which he eventually scored to level the game.

Just 5 mins later Giggs curved a free-kick towards the Arsenal net which perplexed Diaby who ended up in scoring an own goal.

Even though van Persie struck the cross bar , Arsenal failed to convert couple of half chances.
Berbatov missed a great chance in the stoppage time after a great ball from Nani. Later Nani's attempt was also denied by Almunia .
There was more drama at the end of the stoppage time when Arsene Wenger was sent to the stands for his reaction on the touchline to Arsenal's disallowed goal.

Wayne Rooney was the Man of the match.
Final score was Manchester Utd 2-1 Arsenal .....
