EPL Week 6

MANCHESTER UNITED:


After defeating Arsenal , Man City were full of confidence for the 152 Manchester derby . United were also feeling good about the way they defeated the Spurs at White hart lane . So the match was perfectly poised with big stars in both sides .

United started the match as they had left in London last week , in the 1st min, Evra's run made the City defenders confused and he gave the ball to Rooney and city defenders failed to tackle the United No.10 who scored a very early goal in the match .

In the 15th min , due to lack of communication between Ferdinand and Foster , Tevez stole the ball from the united goal keeper and put Barry in front of the empty net and Barry didn't fail to equalise the score-line .

Just after 30 mins of play Rooney's lack of concentration gave Tevez an easy chance to score the second goal for City , which he was only managed to hit the post.
Second half was more eventful than the first . In the 48th min, Giggs produced a beautiful cross to Fletcher , which he headed it home to give the lead for United.
Just 3 mins later Bellamy broke the heart of United fans with a stunning goal .

Giggs started to play like his early days and assisted Berbatov once with a corner and again with a cross and both were saved brilliantly by Irish goal-keeper Given . Mins later Giggs tried a half-volley which was again saved by Given . By this time city were finding it very hard to keep the possession, United were all over the pitch.
In the 79th min , Giggs again assisted Fletcher to make score line 3-2.

But in the 90th min Ferdinand's error in the mid-field proved costly , as Bellamy struck the United net for the second time.

Cometh the 96th min, cometh the man. As Hughes screamed for the final whistle, as the Stretford End pleaded “attack, attack, attack’’ and Rooney hoisted another Garryowen into City’s box, Owen timed his run , galloping onto Giggs’ immaculate pass. Controlling the ball with outside of his right foot, Owen expertly threaded his shot past Given.


Manchester United claim victory in the 152nd Manchester derby while Man City sunk to their 200th EPL loss.

Ferguson told this as the best Manchester derby match in the years .

CHELSEA:


After the first defeat of the this in the hands of the champions Spurs didn't have wished to play against their city rivals Chelsea. These derby matches have always been tougher for both the clubs over period of time and their last meeting resulted in a defeat for the blues .
Chelsea stated-off the match very positively even though Defoe had the first chance of the match , he tried drive the ball through the legs of Cech , but Chelsea goal keeper did just enough to keep the England striker at the bay.
Early in the first half Bosingwa hit the bar from a tight angle. In the 32th min , Bosingwa gave a lovely cross to A.Cole , who finished it off with the diving header , to give the home team much needed lead .

In the 58th min , Drogba's shot was parried by Cudicini and the Lampard was the first to get to the rebounded ball before assisting Ballack to score the second goal of the match to put it beyond the Spurs reach .

Keane was fouled by Carvalho in the box but referee denied him a penalty .
In the 62nd min , a long high-pass found Drogba , which he controlled it beautifully and headed for the third goal . Even though Corluka did win the ball Cudicini was out of place which resulted in an easy goal for the Ivory Coast striker.


Final score was Chelsea 3-0 Tottenham .....


LIVERPOOL:




Liverpool travelled to Upton park on this Saturday by regaining their confidence with Benayoun's Hat-trick last weekend.
Just after kick-off Carragher fell asleep in the box which resulted in a one-on-one chance for the Caribbean kid Hines , which he was only managed to hit the post.
Somehow Liverpool held themselves together defensively under the constant threat by Hines.
In the 20th min , Insua put Torres in the search of goal . And Torres was absolutely fantastic , he pierced the Westham defence very easily and evaded two defenders before finding the net with a very impossible angle . Torres showed real pace, strength and skill which completes him as the world's best striker.

In the 28th min , Hines again challenged Liverpool defenders with his great run and Carragher pushed the Debutant in the 18-yard box which resulted in a Westham penalty. The Itlian Diamanti hit the ball from the spot to equalise the score-line .

But he was lucky to get that goal because the ball seemed to hit his both feet before crossing the goal-line . According to FIFA Rule 14 : Ball must hit only one foot of the player before crossing the goal line , otherwise it will be disallowed.

In the the 40th min , Liverpool scored from a corner . Gerrard's header was deflected-in by Kuyt to take the lead against the Londoners.
But Westham equalised with last corner of the first half. This time it was Cole who scored for Westham . This was the similar kind of goal which Liverpool conceded against Aston villa a fortnight ago .
In the second half Westham looked charged-up , especially Hines who was constantly fouled by the reds .
In the 75th min , substitute Babel gave cross to Torres which he buried the ball beyond the reach of Green , to give lead for the Liverpool third time in the match. And this time Liverpool retained their lead until the final whistle .


Final score was West Ham 2-3 Liverpool .....



ARSENAL:




After two back-to-back defeats in the hands of Manchester clubs , gunners could ill-afford another stumbling in their home match against Wigan on Saturday.
In the 25th min , Belgian defender Vermaelen headed a corner to give the early lead for the gunners , which boosted their confidence. Kirkland saved some of the attempts from the Arsenal players in the first half.

Vermaelen started the second half as ended the first. In the 49 th min , he linked-up quite brilliantly with Eboue , to score an striker-quality goal from outside the box .

10 mins later , Eduardo hit the bar with his left-footed volley and tried his luck once again with the rebound and the ball was deflected-in by Eboue who was booed by home fans in the same fixture last season.

In the 90th min , Bendtner gave low cross to his captain Fabregas who arrived in front of the goal-keeper in time to poke-in the fourth and final goal of the match.
