Manchester United clinched their 18th English premier league title . With this title United equalled Liverpool's record of 18 league championships. Consistency is the other name for Manchester United this season.

- Van der Sar broke Peter cech's record of spending highest number of mins without conceding a goal . Now the Dutch goal keeper has a record of 1311 mins of clean sheets under his belt.
- Cristiano Ronaldo was honoured with the ' WORLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2008 ' award for his last seasons performance. He was the first ever player from british league to achieve this honour.He was also awarded with ' Ballon d'Or -2008 '. He also won FIFPro 2008 award.
- Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th goal for United on November 15th against Stoke city.
- Ryan Giggs became the only premier league player to score in all seasons . He also completed his 800 appearance for United. He also won PFA award for the season2008-09.
- 17 year old Federico Macheda marked his debut with a winner goal against Aston villa. He also scored a winning goal against Sunderland away from home.
