EPL: Weekend Review 11th April 09

MANCHESTER UNITED:
Manchester united travelled to stadium of light this Saturday.It was Black cats Vs Red devils. Manchester united struggled to get three points from their first meeting in this season.
Two teams had early chances to take the lead . Jones shot was blocked by man utd defenders.
Then it was Vidic who headed the ball towards the net and it was cleared by the black cats.
In the 19th min it was Ronney's cross that did the early damage. His cross found Scholes who didn't miss the chance,headed it home safely.

Underland tried very hard for the equalizer. First it was Cisse whose shot was parried over by the goal keeper Foster. Then it was Edvins cross which got a deflection from amn utd defenders and hit the far fost.
Manchester utd finished the first half 1-0.
In the 55th min Foster couldn't reach the cross and left the ball at the mercy of Jones who scored the equalizer for sunderland.
Scholes tried to score his second of the day from out side of the box which he missed.Cisse gone for an acrobatic effort which also didn't troubled the keeper.
In the 76th min 17 year old Macheda repeated his last weeks performance by scoring a goal.
It was Carrick who gone for long range effort and Macheda deflected it home.

Manchester united are only 7 games away from retaining their title.

Final score was Sunderland 1-2 Manchester united.....

LIVERPOOL:

Liverpool invited Blackburn Rovers to Anfield this Saturday. It is the meeting between two clubs who heading towards opposite direction.While One is trying to lift the trophy ,another is getting relegated to second division.

In the 5th min Carragher gave lovely aerial pass to Spanish international Torres who chested it down brilliantly and put the ball up and over Robinson into the far corner . It was almost an impossible goal. Angle was against him, still with his magical touch he gave the lead to Liverpool.

Mins later Kuyt played Mascherano into the box but his shot was blocked by the goal keeper Robinson and Torres blasted it over the bar.Later Kuyt's header was parried away by the goal keeper.
In the 33rd min Riera was fouled by Andrews who got yellow card for his foul. Alonso took the free kick and Torres headed the ball home for the second time in this match.

Blackburn had a half chance when Samba found himself with the ball in the box. But he couldn't put much power behind the ball which resulted in a easy save for Reina.
Mins later Mascherano denied by the England goal keeper.
In the 83 min Agger scored from almost 25 yards.

In the 90th min Ngog , a young lad from France scored a header to win the match .

Final score was Liverpool 4-0 Blackburn.....

CHELSEA:

Chelsea hosted Bolton this Saturday in Stamford Bridge. After their win over Liverpool in Champions league QF first leg Hiddink's men were feeling confident.
In the 40th min Kaluo's low cross found Ballack who turned it in to give the Londoners lead in the first half.

In the 48th min Kaluo was fouled by bolton player ,which resulted in a free kick. Lampard gave a low ball to Drogba who scored an easy goal.

In the 60th min Lampard's cross hit the arm of bolton defender and resulted in a penalty. Lampard did no mistake in increasing the lead to 3-0 .

Drogba scored his second goal of the afternoon in the 63 min.
In the 70th min O'brien scored for Bolton. In the 74th min Basham scored the second goal for bolton. Four mins later Taylor headed another home for bolton. Suddenly chelsea were looking vulnerable.

But somehow chelsea got the three points.Bolton became the first team to score three gaols in stamford Bridge this season.
Final score was Chelsea 4-3 Bolton.....

ARSENAL:

Arsenal had away game against Wigan this Saturday.

An unlikely start for Arsenal , in the 18th min Egyptian striker Mido scored for Wigan.Mins later Valencia was brought down by arsenal defender Gibbs. Luckily Gibbs escaped with just a yellow card. Watson took the free kick and hit the side bar. Arsenal got away from two threats.
In the second half Wigan almost scored their second goal which was cleared by the defender Gibbs.
Walcott scored his first goal after returning from injury in the 61st min.

In the 71st min Fabregas gave a lovely pass to Silvestre who poked it in to score his first goal for Arsenal.

On the stroke of the full time, Arshavin couldn't believe his luck when Wigan defender Koumas gave the ball to him. He scored the third goal for Arsenal.

In the 92 min Song sneaked into the box to score the 4th goal for Arsenal.

Final score was Wigan 1-4 Arsenal.....
