WEEKEND REVIEW 4th APR 09

CHELSEA:




This saturday chelsea travelled to newcastle hoping to get 3 points away from home.
In St.James park it was a debut for the big guy Alan Shearer as manager. He is known for his magic on the pitch. He requires some miracle to lift his former club from relegation.

It was the first moment of action for the newcastle goal keeper Harper who stopped the header directed towards goal by Kalou . Later it was Martins who couldn't capitalize on Alex's slip, which was relatively an easy chance.Till half time, score was 0-0.
It was Lampard who broke the deadlock for chelsea in the 56th min. All credit goes to newcastle defender Coloccini, whose casual clearing left the ball in the legs of premier league top scorer Anelka , who chipped the ball over the goal keeper which hit the bar and resulted in a free header for Lampard.

Ten mins later Maluoda scored the second goal with the help of Lampard .
Mins later Owen's strike took the deflection of two defenders and crept in . But A.Cole cleared the ball which had already crossed the line. But linesman didn't give it as goal. Newcastle fans were furious about this decision. Shearer told the press that "It was not becuase of linesman's fault we lost the game today.We made some mistakes . When you do mistakes against the big boys they will make you pay for it"

Final score was Newcastle 0-2 Chelsea .....




LIVERPOOL:


Liverpool were hosted by Fulham . Liverpool can not afford to slip in craven cottage as they were only 1 point below the champions man utd. Fulham is the club which holds third best home record this season.
Liverpool started the match with an early attack with the combined effort of Alanso and Torres .
Torres played his teammate Dossena in ,who tried his luck with his left foot.But fulham goal keeper Schwarzer tipped it over the bar. Resulted corner gave Skrtel a fee shot on the goal. Dossena came in the way and headed it to the cross bar.
Mins later Alonso hit the cross bar . Combined effort of Gerrard and Torres, put Torres in the box with the fulham center backs converging on him. Torres shot was also ended in hitting
the pole. Next it was Dossena again who headed the ball to the cross bar for the fourth time in the first half.
Liverpool players were left frustrated as the fulham defender cleared the Babel's shot which was looking good.

Isreal captain Yossi Benayoun who had already tried twice, suceeded third time by scoring the only goal in 92 min. As a result of this win Liverpool will go top of the table with two points clear of man utd who will host Aston villa on sunday.

ARSENAL:


Arsenal hosted Manchester city on saturday . Arsenal were feeeling confident with the return of their captain Cesc Fabregas who was out for 19 games and striker Adebayor .

After a 3-0 defeat over man city in manchester, it was the time for Arsenal to answer.
After 7 mins of play Sagna was fouled by Rubinho which resulted in a free kick . Fabregas delivered the free kick brilliantly to Adebayor who sored a free header.

Mins later Right-phillips gave a good pass to Richards who blazed the ball towards goal,which was brilliantly saved by Alumina .Mins later russian international Arshavin was denied by manc goal keeper Given.

Just 4 mins after half time Fabregas chipped the ball over manc defenders and found Adebayor who doubled the lead with a cool finish.Now Arsenal are 6 points clear of Aston villa in fourth place .

Final score was Arsenal 2-0 Manchester city .....
